Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Whelping.Org ("we", "us") collects through this website and our text messaging program, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

• What you give us when you apply to take part: your name, your program's name and, if you choose, your breed, website or social page, when your next litter is expected, your email address, your mobile number and anything else you tell us.
• What you give us on the text sign-up form: your first name, mobile number and, if you choose, your program's name and breed.
• A record of your consent: the date and time you signed up, the wording you agreed to, and the internet address and browser the form was sent from. We keep this to show that you asked for our texts.
• Text messages: the messages we send you and your replies, including STOP and HELP.
• What you share for the study: videos and any details about them that you choose to send us.
• Publicly listed business details: for dog programs we invite to the study, we may hold contact details and program information that the program has published itself, such as on its own website or a public directory.

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as internet addresses, to run and protect the site.

How we use it

• To consider your application to take part, and to reply to it.
• To text you about taking part in the whelping video study, if you have agreed to that. Applying alone does not sign you up for texts.
• To answer your questions and keep a record of our conversation.
• To carry out the research and, with your agreement, to credit your program if we use your videos.
• To honor opt-outs and meet legal requirements.

Mailing list

If you join our mailing list, we keep the name, email address and phone number you give us, and use them only to send you updates about the study. We do not sell, rent or share them, and we do not send advertising. Joining the mailing list is not agreement to receive text messages: those are only sent to people who ticked the box for them on the application form. To leave the list, email [email protected] and we will take you off it.

Mobile numbers and text messaging

• Message frequency: message frequency varies.
• Cost: message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
• Opting out: reply STOP to any text to stop receiving messages. We will send one message confirming it and then no more.
• Help: reply HELP to any text, or email [email protected].

Who we share information with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the study, such as our website host and our text messaging provider, and only so they can provide those services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.

Videos

Videos you share stay yours. We use them for the research described on this site and do not sell original footage.

How long we keep it

We keep sign-up and consent records for as long as you are receiving our texts, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can show that we honored your choices. We keep study material for as long as the research needs it, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.

Your choices

• Stop the texts at any time by replying STOP.
• Ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing [email protected].
• Ask us to remove your program from our invitation list.

Children

This site and our texts are for adults who run dog programs. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Changes

If we change this policy we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
